Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of Carlos Blanco as the new managing director of Jumby Bay, A Rosewood Resort. A Rosewood veteran, Blanco was part of the opening team at Las Ventanas al Paraiso, A Rosewood Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, and recently served as resident manager at Caneel Bay, A Rosewood Resort on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. At Jumby Bay, he will be responsible for all operations at the exclusive, private-island retreat. Prior to joining Rosewood, Blanco was General Manager at two four-star properties in Mexico: Costa Sol Hotel from 1995 to 1996, and the Misión Hotel in Uxmal Yue from 1992 to 1995. He began his career in hospitality as Front Desk Manager at the five-star Hotel Kristal in Ixatapa Zihutanejo in 1985. A native of Mexico City, Blanco, 40, earned a degree in Hotel Business Administration from the Tecnologico Hotelero in 1985. He resides at Jumby Bay with his wife, Norma and their three children.
