Exclusive Interview: Turismo Chile's North American Director

In April, Travel Agent magazine visited Chile for the USTOA: Out of Country Meeting 2010, roughly two months after the country suffered an 8.8.-magnitude earthquake, which was 400 times stronger than the earthquake in Haiti, and we found very little evidence of a natural disaster of that capacity.

We sat down with Juan Pablo Chovar, director of Turismo Chile’s North America division, at our office in midtown Manhattan to find out how the country was able to rebound from such a strong quake.

The charismatic director, two days after a tourism board-sponsored “Wines of Chile Experience” in New York, also shared with us several new and updated selling points Chile specialists should know about when pitching this hot South American country.  Enjoy.
