American, JetBlue Debut Reciprocal Frequent Flyer Program

JetBlue AirwaysStarting November 18, members of American Airlines' AAdvantage program and JetBlue's TrueBlue customer loyalty program can earn miles and TrueBlue points respectively on select markets. AAdvantage members now have access to 26 JetBlue domestic markets, while JetBlue customers can benefit from 15 of American's markets. Via AA.com, customers will be able to book flights aboard American and JetBlue.

First announced in March 2010, the commercial agreement will cover American Airlines' new international market in Budapest, Hungary, for April 2011, and nine new JetBlue domestic markets. Customers will be able to take advantage of 15 of American's international destinations, departing from John F. Kennedy International Airport and Boston Logan Airport, include Barcelona, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo, .

Among JetBlue's 26 domestic destinations will include Portland, MA, Rochester, NY or Richmond, VA. Its nine new domestic markets include Baltimore, Charlotte, NC, Newark, Orlando, Pittsburgh, PA, Raleigh-Durham, NC, San Francisco, Washington D.C. and Phoenix. They will available on AA.com after December 10, except for Newark launching May 2011.

Through the new agreement, customers of either airline can book connecting itineraries on AA.com as well as global distribution services (GDS), including travel agencies, most major North American online travel agency websites, or by calling American Airlines Reservations at 800-433-7300. Travelers can benefit from the interline service, including one-stop check-in and baggage drop services.
