DOT Denies Virgin Blue-Delta Antitrust Immunity Application

Today, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) preliminarily denied Virgin Blue and Delta Air Lines' application for antitrust immunity, regarding their proposed joint venture on the Trans Pacific Route. When their plans were announced in June, the airlines said this would increase the airlines' network between the United States, Australia and the South Pacific.

Over the next 14 days, the airlines will work the DOT to respond to the department's concerns.
