Group RCI, Disney Vacation Club Announce Multi-Year Affiliation Relationship

Group RCI, part of the Wyndham Worldwide family of companies, and Disney Vacation Club, a vacation ownership program that helps families with flexibility and savings on vacations, have announced a new multi-year affiliation relationship. This new agreement allows subscribing members access to several vacation opportunities.

Effective January 1, 2009, RCI will become the third-party exchange provider for Disney Vacation Club, enrolling Disney Vacation Club’s member families into RCI’s global exchange network.

Disney Vacation Club members will be able to take vacations at a variety of destinations across six continents and 25 countries, and will have access to more all-inclusive options as well as more nightly exchanges and a selection of high-end fractional properties.

RCI’s members will now also enjoy the opportunity to exchange into Disney Vacation Club resorts and may rent at Disney Vacation Club resorts throughout the year.

I disagree with the idea that RCI is a 2 star vacation club. We are members of both II and RCI. Over the past 8 years we have enjoyed fabulous vacations (non-all inclusive) through both exchange companies at 4 and 5 star resorts around the world.

Disney has recently decided to switch from II (Interval International) to RCI. Why they did this without polling it's memebers is beyond me, but if you compare the quality, locations and number of resorts that are considered the gold and silver crown resorts that RCI offers compared to II you will see that II is far more superior.  RCI's resorts for the most part are out dated and have very bad reviews. At least with II you could always stay at a Marriot which we all know has a reputation of quality.  Some of the nicer resorts with RCI are their mandatory all-inclusive resorts which charges additional fee's upward of $400 per person. Anyone thinking of buying into DVC is highly advised to do your research first. We bought ours in the summer of 08 and if we knew about the change over prior to purchasing we would have not purchased. Disney is a quality company who has paired up with a 2 star vacation club.
