Results! Travel Supports Military Families

Results! Travel reports that for the first time in its11-year history it is committing to a year-long partnership with a major charitable organization in an effort to give back locally and nationally. After careful consideration and consultation with its members on its Leadership Council, Results! Travel has chosen Operation Homefront as its “charity of choice” for the coming year.

Operation Homefront is a recognized nonprofit organization created to support the families of military service members and wounded military personnel.

“This is a very significant endeavor for Results! Travel and its nearly 700 agencies nationwide. All of usrealize there is more to life than just business and it’s vitally important we give back,” said Results! Travel Vice President and General Manager John Risner. “While there are certainly times that we’ve faced a wide array of challenges and struggles in our businesses and the travel industry as a whole, it’s nothing compared to what these military families face on a daily basis. There is so much we can do to give back and it goes far beyond giving away a free airline ticket or trip.”

Operation Homefront’s mission includes providing emergency assistance, both financial and otherwise, to U.S. military families and this country’s “Wounded Warriors.” The non-profit organization supports all branches of the U.S. military plus National Guard members, Reservists and military personnel transitioning to civilian life. According to its website, “Operation Homefront provides direct services to alleviate a military family’s or individual’s actual/complete emergency financial burden, as well as counseling and/or recovery support. Emergency financial assistance is in the form of checks paid directly to mortgage lenders, auto mechanics, contractors, hospitals, doctors, dentists and other providers. Other emergency funding assistance, which an applicant receives within 24 to 72 hours, includes the following:

· Financial assistance
· Emergency food
· Emergency home repairs
· Critical baby items: formula, food and diapers
· Home and appliance repair
· Furniture and household items
· Local moving assistance
· Community events
· Wounded Warrior Transitional Family Housing

The organization also currently operates four "Operation Homefront Villages" for wounded military personnel and their families. Disabled military service members who are discharged because of their injuries must vacate military housing and, many times, face delays in veteran’s benefit compensation, which place them at risk of becoming homeless. Operation Homefront Villages offer free housing and assistance – from support groups to benefits briefings and financial workshops to resume writing classes – which helps them in transitioning back into civilian life.

“Not only is this a great charity in which 94 percent of every dollar goes into its programs, but there is so much flexibility in the variety of ways to contribute and assist our military families,” added Risner. “While fundraising and monetary donations are welcomed, that’s not the only way our members can support this charity. Whether an agency is large or small, they can find various ways to participate and help support the goals and mission of Operation Homefront, and each agency’s efforts help give back to their local community and service member families in need.”
