Croatia Sees Strong Tourism Numbers for 2013

According to figures released by Croatia's National Bureau of Statistics and its Ministry of Tourism, the country saw a "very successful" 2013 tourism season, with a total of 12.43 million arrivals and 72 million overnights. The results constitute a 5.5 percent increase in arrivals and an increase of 4.1 percent in overnights over the 2012 season.

The international arrivals to Croatia were up for 6.1 percent from 2012. From the international markets, arrivals from the U.S. and Canada totaled 295,461 and 824,136 overnights to Croatia during 2013--a 23 percent increase in arrivals and 22 percent increase in overnights over 2012.

Andreja Cvitkovic, director of Croatia Tourist Office North America, said that the North American market had been performing steadily for Croatia over the past three years. “That being said, we are aware that there is still much work to be done and we will keep promoting Croatia on this market in 2014, with different platforms including media reach out, consumer and trade shows, workshops and more,” Cvitkovic added.
