AmaWaterways is scheduled to launch a new season of its “In Celebration of Wine Cruises” with a President’s Wine Cruise featuring its “Provence and Spain” itinerary. The cruise takes place from March 29-April 5, 2012 on the Rhone River from Arles to Lyon, France.

This wine cruise aboard the MS AmaDagio will transport guests through some of France’s most renowned wine regions and explore the Provencal landscape that has inspired poets, painters and writers for centuries.

AmaWaterways' president Rudi Schreiner and executive vice president Kristin Karst will host the President’s Wine Cruise. Joining them to lend their expertise will be Carissa Chappellet of Chappellet Winery in Napa Valley and Archie McLaren, founder of the Central Coast Wine Classic.

The “In Celebration of Wine” itineraries include complimentary wine-themed shore excursions and winery visits; onboard lectures, wine tastings and wine pairings at meals. Highlights of the President’s Wine Cruise include the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Arles and Avignon; the villages of Viviers, Tournon, Vienne and Trévoux plus excursions to the Beaujolais wine region. An optional land program offers three nights pre-cruise in Barcelona and three nights post-cruise in Paris (via TGV train). The land programs include sightseeing tours of famous landmarks, daily breakfast, optional tours plus the services of a professional AmaWaterways cruise manager who accompanies guests throughout the entire cruise and land program.
