Carnival Creates First-Ever International Cougar Cruise

You can you hear the purring and meowing now. Thanks to the relationship between Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, along with the recent reality TV show "The Cougar" and the upcoming show "Cougar Town" starring Courtney Cox, older women dating younger men is more than just acceptable, it's hot.

Carnival Cruise Lines is all over the sexy new trend, offering its first-ever International Cougar Cruise, which takes place December 4-7, aboard Carnival’s Fun Ship Elation, departing from San Diego and visiting Ensenada, Mexico. Rates are priced from $125 (per person, double-occupancy) plus port charges and government fees.

“2009 is The Year of the Cougar, according to Newsweek’s cover story,” says Ann Thomas, executive director of The Singles Travel Company. “We were surprised to discover that there has never been an International Cougar Cruise. Obviously this cruise is long overdue!”

The guest of honor on the Cougar Cruise will be Miss Cougar America, who will be selected at the National Single Cougars Convention, Friday, August 28 at Dinah’s Garden Hotel, in Palo Alto CA. Cubs (younger men) in attendance will decide who wins the contest.

The Cougar Cruise and Convention are based on Valerie Gibson’s "Cougar: A Guide for Older Women Dating Younger Men." According to Gibson, “a cougar is the new breed of single, older woman—confident, sophisticated, desirable, and sexy. She knows exactly what she wants. What she doesn’t want is children, cohabitation, or commitment.”

The Cougar Cruise is co-sponsored by The Singles Travel Company and by The Society of Single Professionals, the world’s largest non-profit singles organization at www.ThePartyHotline.com.
