Carnival To Debut New Transatlantic Cruiser

Next year Carnival Cruise Lines will unveil a new cruise liner, which will operate two transatlantic cruises in 2008, the company announced on Wednesday. In its final stages of construction at a shipyard in Italy, the new Carnival Freedom will debut in Europe on March 5, 2007. The ship's itinerary includes a 14-day crossing departing from Miami on April 26, 2008 and a 16-day trip leaving Rome on November 6, 2008. The 110,000-ton liner will feature a 13,300-square foot health and fitness center, four swimming pools and a 270-square foot LED screen on deck to display movies, concerts and other programming. Reservations are currently being accepted for both transatlantic trips. Prices for Miami's 14-day excursion begin at $699 per person and Rome's 16-day trip begins at $849 per person.
