Carnival's Fantasy-Class Ships Getting Facelift

March 30, 2007 By: David Eisen Travel Agent

Carnival Cruise Lines is injecting $250 million into the line's eight Fantasy-class ships, a measure to enliven and renovate the vessels, which were all built in the 1990s. The class of ships primarily sails short Caribbean itineraries, which are popular especially with first-time cruisers. Sales staff at a brand update at last week's CLIA cruise3sixty conference in Fort Lauderdale said a big reason for the renovations was so that first timers got a great impression of Carnival. The investment, being called "Evolutions of Fun," will incorporate new features and revamps of existing ones, said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president and CEO. Many enhancements have already been completed on the Fantasy, Ecstasy and Fascination, but CCL says all enhancements, which include updating pool areas and staterooms, will be completed by 2009.
