Norwegian Cruise Line Renovates Great Stirrup Cay

Norwegian Cruise Line announced at Cruise Shipping Miami that it will be enhancing its private island, Great Stirrup Cay, with a two-phase, $20 million refurbishment. The renovation is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2011.
The first phase has already begun. This includes the excavation and formation of a new entrance channel for tenders, marina basin and arrival area with welcome pavilion and docks. Following this, the beachfront will be expanded to accommodate more guests.
The second phase will include new dining and bar facilities, several comfort stations, a band stanf, cruise program activity area; private beachfront cabanas, a kid's play area, straw market, and beach volleyball courts.
Great Strirrup Cay is located 12 miles east of Fort Lauderdale in the Berry Island chain of the Bahamas.
