NEW YORK--At Tuesday’s CLIA Media Marketplace at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in New York, Travel Agent Central got a chance to sit down with MSC Cruises President and CEO Rick Sasso, where he explained the “ship within a ship” philosophy behind the line's three newest vessels.
The three new ships, the Fantasia, Splendida and, launching this November, the Divina, feature MSC’s new Yacht Club accommodations. The “ship within a ship” concept aims to combine the exclusivity of a luxury cruise experience with the broad range of activities available on a larger vacation. The Yacht Club consists of three dedicated decks with their own private dining, concierge and luxury amenities. Since guests have everything they need available to them within the Yacht Club, they can enjoy the experience of a small, exclusive luxury cruise. They are also free, however, to enjoy the more varied activities the larger ship has to offer.
“It’s the best variety in luxury travel,” explained Sasso.
The Divina will also debut the Aurea Spa Suites to extend the exclusive experience even further. These suites feature Yacht Club accommodations with inclusive spa treatments at the Aurea Spa. The Divina will sail for the first time this November in the Mediterranean.
In addition to their new ships, Sasso talked about MSC’s commitment to being a “travel agent’s best friend.” With the MSC Rewards program, agents can earn points on every cruise they book based on the length of the cruise and the number of staterooms sold. Agents can then redeem these points for cash rewards.
MSC also offers 18 percent commissions on cruise fares as well as 10 percent on pre-booked excursions and spa treatments.
