"Like all of you, Royal Caribbean is aware of the attack that occurred in Nice, France. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected. After reviewing all of the available information and along with discussions with our Global Security team in Miami, we have decided to cancel our next two calls to Nice.

"Navigator of the Seas was scheduled to visit Nice on Friday, July 15. Instead, the ship will spend the day at sea. Celebrity Constellation was due to visit Nice on Saturday, July 16. Instead, the ship will also spend the day at sea.

"We will continue to closely monitor the situation in France and will contact guests or their travel agents should we make any additional changes to upcoming itineraries. Whether or not we call to Nice will always be driven by our concern for the safety and wellbeing of our guests and crew members."

Other members of the travel industry are also releasing statements following the attack.

Paula Twidale, executive vice president of Collette issued the following:

“We offer our heartfelt sorrow and prayers to all the families who have suffered losses resulting from this senseless act of violence in Nice. Our crisis management team has reached out to our staff on the ground in France and determined that all are safe and none are presently in Nice.

"We will continue to monitor the events closely in our pledge to maintain the well- being and security of our guests and employees around the globe. As more information becomes available, we will advise guests accordingly of any changes that may affect existing travel plans.

"We support the people of France and choose not to succumb to fear; but instead remain vigilant as we continue living our lives freely through travel."

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, parent company of Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, provided this statement:

"We are incredibly saddened to learn of the events in Nice, and share our deepest sympathies with all those affected by this devastating tragedy. We are providing support and assistance to our corporate team members, shipboard staff and guests with loved ones in and around Nice. Ships from the NCLH fleet were not operating tours to Nice at the time of the incident.

"At all three NCLH brands, the safety and security of our guests and crew is paramount.  Out of an abundance of caution, we have suspended all shore excursions to Nice and implemented enhanced security measures for all ships operating in French ports."

In addition, MSC Cruises confirmed to Travel Agent Central that it will provide guests who have booked upcoming Nice shore excursions with the chance to either cancel or pick another excursion.
