Seabourn To Discontinue East Africa Calls

Seabourn Cruise Line told travel agents that due to recent piracy incidents along the coast of East Africa, it will bypass the area and alter the itinerary of its cruise departing Nov. 4 from Alexandria, Egypt. Instead of ending the cruise in Mombasa, Kenya, the line will instead shift that disembarkation port to Dubai. Guests will receive a complimentary "Exclusively Seabourn" shore event that will involve an evening at a Bedouin camp in the desert. This cruise will also now visit the ports of Salalah and Khasab, Oman. All other ports and timing remain unchanged. Changes are also being made to the Nov. 20 departure. A Seabourn vessel successfully fought off an armed pirate attack off the coast of Somalia last year, but other commercial vessels have not been so lucky.
