Spirit of Nantucket Gets New Name

The repositioning of Cruise West's Spirit of Nantucket isn't the only change the ship will assume. The 102-guest ship will be renamed Spirit of Glacier Bay, following its move to Alaska in 2008. The ship is currently sailing itineraries on the East Coast through 2007. The old Spirit of Glacier Bay sailed a similar Alaska itinerary until it was retired in 2001. Dick West, chairman and managing director of Cruise West, said it made sense to reintroduce the name and "get back to our roots." In 2008, Spirit of Glacier Bay will sail three- and four-night Glacier Bay Highlights cruises. This cruise was previously offered on Spirit of Alaska. Cruise West's Alaska cruises are offered May through August. Visit [www.cruisewest.com].
