Technical Issue Delays Carnival Fantasy’s Arrival Into Cozumel

Carnival Fantasy experienced a technical issue May 4 that slightly reduced its speed, Carnival Cruise Line said in a statement provided to Travel Agent.

As a result, the ship arrived a few hours late into Cozumel, Mexico, that same day.

“The issue was subsequently resolved and the ship is back on schedule,” Carnival said in a written statement.

Carnival Fantasy is scheduled to arrive back in its homeport of Mobile, Alabama, Saturday, after which it will sail a five-night western Caribbean cruise with calls at Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico.

Carnival began operating cruises from Mobile onboard the Carnival Fantasy in the fall of 2016 following an absence of a few years. The ship, which underwent a multimillion-dollar refurbishment prior to its deployment to Mobile, currently sails a lineup of four-day cruises to Cozumel and five-day cruises to Cozumel and Costa Maya or Progreso.

Notable enhancements to the Carnival Fantasy include a number of amenities from the line’s Fun Ship 2.0 program, including Guy’s Burger Joint, developed in tandem with Food Network star Guy Fieri, two poolside watering holes, the RedFrog Rum Bar and BlueIguana Tequila Bar, and the BlueIguana Cantina Mexican-themed eatery.

Carnival Fantasy also has a 12,000-square-foot spa, a WaterWorks aqua park with a 300-foot-long slide and a kiddie splash area, and a Serenity adults-only retreat, as well as supervised programs for kids ages 2-17, full casino gambling and a wide array of dining options, including a 24-hour pizzeria.
