Tower Bridge To Rise Again for Seabourn

April 12, 2006 By: Susan Young Travel Agent

Seabourn Cruise Line says that Seabourn Pride will sail under London's famous Tower Bridge again this summer. The bridge transit, which requires the drawbridge to be lifted to allow the ship to berth alongside the historic museum ship HMS Belfast in the heart of London, had been deleted in 2005; last year the ship instead used a floating dock situated just down river from the landmark bridge. But the Tower Bridge transit had long been a highlight of voyages into and out of London for Seabourn guests, according to Debbie Natansohn, Seabourn's president, and so the transit is back this summer. Seabourn Pride is one of the few cruise ships able to navigate the Thames River above the Tower Bridge. The 208-guest ship will call at London on June 3, following a 14-day European Food & Wine festival cruise from Lisbon, and again on Sept. 29 to begin a 14-day transatlantic voyage "In the Wake of the Pilgrims." Fares for the latter are being offered at savings up to 50 percent, with single supplements as low as 110 percent. In addition, Seabourn Pride will call at London on Aug. 31, beginning a 14-day private full-ship charter in connection with the Ryder Cup golf tournament in Dublin, Ireland. For details, visit [].
