TV Icons to Christen Princess Ships

The two newest Princess ships will have 1970s TV mom-and-daughter duos as their godmothers when the ships are named in Santorini, Greece over Mother's Day weekend. Florence Henderson, the matriarch of "The Brady Bunch," and Marion Ross, aka Marion Cunningham from "Happy Days," will christen the larger Emerald Princess, while their TV daughters Susan Olsen (Cindy Brady) and Erin Moran (Joanie Cunningham) will handle the duties on the smaller Royal Princess. Alan Buckelew, Princess' president, said the four were selected because they personified the quintessential American mothers and daughters. Meanwhile, the actors announced on Thursday a contest for a real mother and daughter tandem to join them in Greece for the festivities. Wannabe contestants may enter "The Ultimate Mother and Daughter Mediterranean Escape" by logging onto [www.princess.com/mothersdayescape.com]. The 113,000-ton Emerald Princess will sail a series of Greek isles and Grand Mediterranean cruises this summer before heading to Fort Lauderdale for Caribbean sailings in the fall. Royal Princess, currently sailing as Swan Hellenic's Minerva II, will also offer a series of Mediterranean sailings. Visit [www.princess.com] for more information.
