This Week in Cruise - New Faces at Royal Caribbean, Avalon and All Leisure Group

 

Emmy and Tony award-winning Kristin Chenoweth was chosen as godmother to Royal Caribbean International’s new cruise ship, Quantum of the Seas. The cruise line announced the appointment during a red carpet-inspired commercial that aired during ABC television network’s broadcast of the Oscars.

Quantum of the Seas is set to debut in fall 2014. Royal Caribbean was the first cruise line to introduce fully-licensed Broadway productions onboard its ships and currently performs Saturday Night Fever, Hairspray and Chicago: The Musical.

 

Additionally, after announcing three more Suite Ships to debut in 2014, Avalon Waterways chose Deborah Hutton, Australian celebrity and television host, to christen the Avalon Illumination next year. Hutton will christen the Avalon Illumination in an international ceremony that will take place in June 2014. Christening plans are also underway for the Avalon Poetry II and Avalon Impression for 2014, with details being made available later this year.

A former international model, Hutton enjoyed a career as a television host on a range of programs. She is currently the host of Australia’s “Foxtel Movie Show.” In 2012, Hutton founded “Balance by Deborah Hutton,” an online community designed to provide women practical advice to help them maintain balance in their lives. She also served as a brand ambassador for Australian companies such as Qantas.

Lastly, All Leisure Group, North America, the parent company of Voyages of Discovery, Swan Hellenic and Hebridean Island Cruises appointed Steve Tucker, CTC (Certified Travel Counselor) to lead the company’s North American operation. Tucker joins All Leisure Group, as president, All Leisure Group, North America from Silversea Cruises, where he was VP, field sales. He will report directly to Andrew Dufty, chief marketing officer.
