Windstar to Host President’s Cruise Through Panama Canal

Windstar Cruises is set to sail the original Panama Canal locks with new President John Delaney onboard. Star Pride will be sailing the special President’s Cruise on the February 25 Costa Rica & Panama Canal voyage.

On the cruise, guests will have the chance to get to know Delaney, partake in several hosted events on board, attend a special gala dinner, and enjoy commemorative gifts, surprises, and more.

One traveler will receive a complimentary upgrade to one of two Owner’s Suites, both of which underwent complete structural and interior million-dollar makeovers. The random drawing will take place during the Sail Away party from Colón, Panama.

Windstar recently added a new daylight transit of the canal with a “Canal Crossing Deck Side Festival” offering onboard narration by a local expert describing both the history of the canal and its day-to-day working. Numerous observation points on the ship allow unrestricted viewing, both indoors and outdoors. On deck, there is festive music provided by onboard musicians, local beverages, a mobile bar, and a champagne toast with the captain to commemorate the passage.

For the 2016-17 season, Windstar’s all-suite power yachts Star Pride and Star Breeze, accommodating 212 guests, are making the Costa Rica & Panama Canal voyage. The seven-day cruise sails from Colón, Panama, followed by a day transiting the Panama Canal, then on to the Costa Rican ports of Isla Parida, Golfo Dulce (Puerto Jimenez), Bahia Drake, Quepos, and Puerto Caldera for disembarkation. For the 2017-18 winter season, Wind Star, which accommodates 148 guests, will be making the voyage.

Windstar offers more than 50 Panama Canal and Costa Rica seven-day sailing departures from Colón, Panama or Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica through spring 2018. Many sailings offer special reduced fares and a choice of perks for the line’s “Star Perks Event.”
