Pittsburgh Is Building a Massive Beer Museum

Beer aficionados may want to keep an eye on Pittsburg over the next few years, as entrepreneurs in the city are planning Brew: The Museum of Beer, a multimillion dollar national beer museum.

Museum officials hosted an official coming out party October 19 to launch the museum’s Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. Executives hope to raise at least $50,000 through the Indiegogo campaign as a proof of concept, with a targeted launch in spring 2018.

Plans call for a 50,000 square foot complex capable of accommodating over 400,000 national and international visitors per year. Museum executives liken the scale of the project to Dublin’s Guinness Storehouse or the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland

On site, travelers will be able to check out unique beer artifacts and exhibits, a 300-seat brewpub, gift store, Beer Hall of Fame and a Brewers Wall capable of including information on all 4,800 breweries in the U.S. Overall, the museum will aim to explore the way beer has impacted the sociology, anthropology, history, economics and politics of the United States.
