Surrey Introduces In-Room Cocktail Service to Guests

surrey hotel rooftop bar

This month, the newly renovated Surrey Hotel will distinguish itself among properties and locales in the Upper East Side of New York neighbors as it launches its private roof garden on the Penthouse level. The garden will be available seasonally and will remain exclusive only to hotel guests, which should keep the crowds manageable, to say the least.

Lauren Rottet, the interior and architectural designer who spearheaded The Surrey’s recent $60 million recreation, also designed the roof garden to provide guests a private escape. Inspired by traditional English gardens, the space features seasonal florals and English Ivy that accompany views of the city and Central Park. Perennials range from purple Salvia East Frieslands to the pink, yellow and orange Lantana.

The intimate garden will be open daily from 7 a.m. – 11 p.m. Guests may order from the all-day dining menu. Inspired by local farmers markets, the signature Muddled Lemonade mixes fresh herbs, fruits and spices with homemade lemonade, available with or without alcohol. As the seasonality of the ingredients change, so will the recipes. Classic cocktails such as the Dark and Stormy and Moscow Mule are complemented by more such concoctions as the Blackberry Mint Margarita and The 76th St., which
features lime, club soda, orange bitters and Patron Silver.

Guests of the hotel and selected members of the neighborhood will be invited to themed evening festivities, such as Backgammon night and Pimm’s night, as well as wine tastings and book readings.
