Bahamas Ministry of Health Announces Cessation of Malaria Transmissions

The Bahamas Ministry of Health and National Insurance advised on August 4 that local transmission of malaria on Great Exuma had positively ceased. This conclusion and announcement is based on the passage of three successive incubation periods of 15 days with no new cases of the disease identified. The Department of Health is continuing to monitor the situation closely and the Department of Environmental Health will continue its intense vector control and entomological management.
