Hawaiian Airlines Appoints New Senior Director of Performance Engineering, Operations Analytics

daniel f lyonsHawaiian Airlines has appointed Daniel F. Lyons, P.E. as senior director - performance engineering & operations analytics. In his new role, Lyons is responsible for improving the efficiency of Hawaiian’s ground and flight operations for its current fleet of more than 40 aircraft.

“As our fleet and route network continue to expand, Daniel’s expertise in engineering will be tremendously useful in keeping our fleet maintained, and our operations efficient and customer focused,” said Charles Nardello, Hawaiian Airlines’ senior vice president of operations, in a written release.

Lyons brings more than 30 years of engineering, management and operational experience to Hawaiian. He has an extensive background in leading highly technical teams while serving as a United States Marine Corps officer, an aeronautical engineer for the U.S. Navy, a program manager for Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems - Advanced Technology Group and most recently as an officer in the Intelligence Community.

Lyons graduated from Naval Postgraduate School with a Master’s degree in aeronautical engineering and the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering. His 1,000 hours of military flight time as a flight officer in the EA-6B includes an aircraft carrier tour and combat missions during Desert Storm.

As a recalled reserve officer, he directly supported combat operations during Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart Medals. He currently holds a commercial pilot’s license for airplanes and gliders and is a volunteer pilot for the Boy Scouts Young Eagles at Dillingham Airfield.
