29th Caribbean Tourism Conference: Dominica

THE BAHAMAS–At the 29th Caribbean Tourism Conference, in the Bahamas, Dominica unveiled a new branding of the island featuring a new logo and tagline: "Defy the Everyday: The Nature Island of Dominica." The island will target global travelers they identify as "life enthusiasts," travelers looking for spiritual, mental and physical wellness in a nature setting. The island currently receives 20,000 visitors from the U.S., representing 50 percent of its total visitors. Dominica will also go live with a new web site on Nov. 1: [].

Dominica is also getting a second American Eagle flight from San Juan, available for the 2006/2007 holiday season, between Nov. 16 and Dec. 1, and commencing again on Dec. 14 through Jan. 31. The flights will take off Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11:30 a.m. and arrive in Dominica at 1:15 p.m. The return flight departs Dominica at 1:45 p.m. and arrives in San Juan at 3:40 p.m.
