ASTA, Kenya Announce Tourism Partnership at IDE

March 24, 2006 By: Frederick Folmer Travel Agent

At the International Destination Expo (IDE) in Prague, ASTA President and CEO Kathy Sudeikis met with Morris Dzoro, Kenya's minister for tourism and wildlife, and pledged that ASTA would work with the Kenyan government to promote tourism to that country as well as to the whole of Africa. "International tourism is key for Kenya. As Americans learn more about the destination, an increasing number of U.S. travelers are expressing interest in experiencing all Kenya has to offer," Sudeikis said, adding that ASTA agents could help to increase marketshare to the country when working in partnership with Kena's tourism businesses. In 2004, the U.S. was Kenya's third-largest inbound market, behind the U.K. and Germany. ASTA said its partnership would include helping the Kenya tourism sector identify and partner with ASTA agents who specialize in Kenya, Africa and adventure travel. The two organizations will also promote a joint ASTA-Kenya fam trip.
