Peter Malanik and Andreas Bierwirth, members of the Austrian Airlines Executive Board, said, “We are gaining more and more passengers with our active market strategy. However, this year remains difficult. The yields are under pressure.”

Austrian Airlines flew approximately 914,000 passengers in September 2011, within Europe, and 6.7 million passengers chose Austrian Airlines for domestic flights within Europe from January to September 2011. Austrian Airlines is Austria’s largest carrier and operates a global route network of around 130 destinations. It is the market leader throughout the region of Central and Eastern Europe. It is also part of the Lufthansa Group, Europe’s largest airline group.
