European Nations Plan New Anti-Terror Efforts

European nations have laid out plans to crack down on terrorism, including aligning European security procedures. Countries may block Internet sites, fingerprint or iris-scan airline passengers and train Muslim preachers to fight radicalism, as part of new efforts to combat terrorism, The New York Times reports. Ministers from Finland, Germany, Portugal, Slovenia and France met in London yesterday with British home secretary John Reid and laid out directives. The assembled ministers said they will speed up plans to increase cooperation among intelligence forces and work together on airport security after a crackdown in Britain last week led to fears that terrorists could carry out their plans by boarding planes elsewhere.
