AA Fully Rejoins Expedia

February 5, 2007 By: Jennifer Merritt Travel Agent

Ticketing of international and domestic first and business class American Airlines fares have resumed on Expedia, the carrier and online booking engine jointly announced Friday. Such fares were removed from the site earlier this year, although it's unclear exactly who initiated the move and why. On January 11, American issued a statement saying it would no longer use to sell tickets for international flights or domestic first or business class flights in the United States. A spokesperson for the carrier told Travel Agent at the time that the decision was due to "economics." Days later, Expedia issued a statement refuting claims American made the decision to remove fares from the site, with an Expedia spokesperson telling Air Transit World, "Expedia made this decision independent of any negotiation issues with AA."
