W Hotels has begun a fundraising initiative called TURN IT UP FOR A CHANGE, a musical event with a special performance by Grammy/Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson in partnership with the Human Rights Campaign at their Union Square, NYC location.
The event will be held monthly at all of the W’s United States destinations in which a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the HRC. Currently, 31 states have legalized same-sex marriage, which means 31 percent of proceeds will be donated from the W in 2014. However, the percentage will increase as more states continue to legalize same-sex marriage (i.e. 32 states=32 percent, 33 states=33 percent, etc). Furthermore, Jennifer Hudson may make surprise appearances throughout these events in addition to donating a portion of the proceeds from downloads of her forthcoming single “I Still Love You”.
Events will include representatives from HRC whom will be providing information to attendees wishing to become more involved in the cause. W Hotels and Retreats are also launching a TURN IT UP FOR A CHANGE room package which includes a $10 donation per package and a One-Year Membership to HRC.
