Dusseldorf's First Annual China Fest

July 19, 2010 By: Meagan Drillinger

Dusseldorf is celebrating China this fall with a brand new outdoor festival: China Fest 2010. The "Dragon Dances in Dusseldorf" was set up to highlight the burgeoning Chinese presence in this Eastern German city (2,300 Chinese currently live and work in Dusseldorf).

The annual celebration will kick off Saturday, October 9, on Koenigsallee, the city's shopping haven. Held from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., China Fest will showcase theater, music, dance, films, photography, calligraphy, fashion and cuisine.

The festival will join an already long list of outdoor festivals on which the city prides itself, including Japan Day, "Manga Fest," the "Largest Fair on the Rhine", "Carnival" and more.
