Big news for travel between Europe and Africa today: After suspending service to Libya due to substantial political unrest, Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines plan to reinstate their flights to Tripoli. Lufthansa will resume flights on February 2nd, while Austrian will begin service on March 25.
The Libyan capital will be served by Lufthansa three times per week—on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays—from Frankfurt. Flight LH1312, operated by an Airbus A319, will depart from Frankfurt in the morning and land in Tripoli three hours later. The return flight, LH 1313, will depart from Tripoli in the afternoon.
Austrian Airlines will be flying to and from Tripoli five times per week. Flight OS 891 will depart from Vienna at 09:55 a.m. and arrive in the Libyan capital at 12:45 p.m. local time. On the return trip, Flight OS 892 will depart from Tripoli at 1:45 p.m., bringing passengers back to Vienna at 4:40 p.m.
