Exclusive: PGA National to Begin Nearly $25 Million Renovation By Spring

Deb Hurd, director of marketing communications for PGA National Resort & Spa, told Travel Agent Friday that the resort, located in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, will begin renovations in excess of $25 million by the spring with hopes of completion by the winter of this year. The renovations will include upgrades to the front entrance, the lobby and the pool area, as well as changing most of the concepts of the property's eight existing restaurants. The move comes on the heels of a recent ownership change to Walton Street Capital, who purchased the golf resort in August from Llwyd Ecclestone, the resort's original owner and developer. The property is also in the midst of celebrating it's 25th anniversary. Hurd says other separate renovations, including the addition of treatment rooms to the resort's spa as well as possible room upgrades, will take place in 2008. The renovations are all a part of the new owners' decision to focus more on family clientele.
