Customs and Border Protection Warns of Sequester Delays

airlineU.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have joined other federal agencies warning of the impact of sequestration. Under the automatic sequestration cuts, CPB said in an advisory to the travel industry, the agency said it will required to reduce expenditures significantly for the remainder of FY 2013.

CPB warned of increased wait times at major international airports up to 50 percent or more with peak period waits of 3- 4 hours at some gateway airports. CPB notes that the delays are despite the significant growth in international travel and trade. CPB is part of the Department of Homeland Security.
