Non-stop Rail Service Planned to Both Chicago Airports

October 9, 2006 By: Travel Agent Central Contributor Travel Agent

By the end of 2008, travelers in Chicago will be able to ride on non-stop rail service from downtown to the city's two main airports, USA Today reports. In a plan announced last week, the service will run from a new station in the heart of the downtown Loop to O'Hare and Midway airports. The trains will run every 15 minutes from early morning to late evening. It's tentatively priced at $10 each way. The station, which will serve only the airport trains, will be built below "Block 37," a mixed-use retail development. The Chicago Transit Authority will maintain the trains, but a private company will manage the service. Trains are designed with comfortable seating and more room for bags. It will cost the city and its private partners about $280 million to get the service rolling.
