A new wreck dive site was recently added to Carriacou's already impressive list of far-as-the-eye-can-see diving spots and up-close encounters with the likes of lobster, nurse sharks and anglefish.
With the permission of the Grenada Ports Authority and the patronage of Jerry Stewart of Carriacou's Tyrell Bay Yacht Haul-Out, who donated the vessel, the tugboat “Boris” was sunk in September. Not far from the wreck of the “Westsider”, both sites are now christened as the Twin Tugs. Both are a maximum depth of 90 feet, experienced divers can dive the wrecks individually or together.
The largest of the Grenadine Islands, Carriacou (“Island Surrounded by Reefs”) is some 20 miles north of Grenada and is just seven miles long and three miles wide. Still and all, it's jam-packed with snowy white beaches, beautiful scenery, great food and plenty of amazing diving destinations. Reachable by St. Vincent Grenada Air from Grenada's Point Salines International Airport to Carriacou's Lauriston Airport as well as from Barbados and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, clients can take the 90-minute jaunts on the Osprey Ferry between Grenada and Carriacou.
