Hawaii's Volcano House Gets New Management

Aqua Hotels & Resorts has announced that its affiliate, Hawaii Volcanoes Lodge Company was recently selected by the National Park Service as the 15-year concession contract operator for the historic Volcano House, Namakanipaio Campground and several small commercial services within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Volcano House has been closed for two years, during which time National Park Service has invested over $4 million in safety enhancements such as seismic retrofitting and fire suppression systems. Another $2.5–$3 million in renovations and refurbishments is still underway. Namakanipaio campgrounds and other smaller areas within the park are also part of the contract.

The renovation start date hasn't been determined and an official opening has not yet been announced, but the upgrades should take approximately eight months to complete. The current plan calls for the Volcano House to be partially open during the process.
