Interview: Reviving A Historic Kansas City Hotel

Kansas City is getting a new, Millennial-friendly hotel housed in a historic building. Travel Agent had a chance to speak with the two hoteliers behind the project, Vamsi Bonthala, CEO of Arbor Lodging Partners, and Sheenal C. Patel, CEO of NVNHotels, on what guests can expect.

The upcoming Hotel Phillips in Kansas City will be the product of a $20 million renovation to a historic, 1930s-era hotel in the city’s downtown area. Plans call for three food and beverage concepts, including the Tavernonna Italian Kitchen, which is being developed in partnership with DMK Restaurants, a Chicago-based hospitality company founded by five-time James Beard Award nominee Michael Kornic and David Morton. The hotel will also have a basement speakeasy, P.S., featuring local liquor, as well as a coffee bar on the first floor called Kilo Charlie

Following the renovations, which are expected to be completed later this year, the hotel will join Hilton’s Curio Collection
