AMResorts Outlines Plan for Growth

In the opening hour of the 31st Tourism Tianguis in Mexico, AMResorts President Alejandro Zozaya laid out an aggressive expansion plan. "When we began in 2001, our goal was to have ten resorts in ten years," said Zozoya. "We presently have ten resorts in just five years, and by 2008 we will have 20 resorts in Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica." The first four of these new resorts scheduled to open comprise Secrets Maroma Riviera Cancun, Mexico, due to open in the fall of 2007; Secrets La Romana Resort, winter of 2007, Dominican Republic; Secrets Punta Cana Resort & Spa, 2008, Dominican Republic; and Secrets Montego Bay Resort & Spa, 2008, the first AMResorts property in Jamaica. Zozoya also said AM Resorts will open four more properties in Quintana Roo, north of Cancun. Additional destinations Zozoya is considering include the Huatulco, Ixtapa, and Baja California, in Mexico; as well as Costa Rica.
