Collective Governors Island Unveils Three New Accommodations

Collective Governors Island has unveiled three new units for the 2023 season. Situated within a 173-acre space surrounded by views of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan’s cityscape, Collective Governors Island is accessible by an eight-minute ferry from Manhattan and a five-minute ferry from Brooklyn.

The three new units include Outlook Villa, Outlook Liberty Suite and Outlook Shelter. Pairing innovative design with sustainability, the new additions reflect the company’s mission. Collective Retreats has also earned certified B-Corp status.

For Outlook Villa, Collective Retreats partnered with Tenthouse Structures, the team behind Camp Sarika at Amangiri, to conceptualize a glamorous private outdoor suite. The bedroom is enclosed by folding glass doors connected to an indoor-outdoor furnished terrace with a suspended fireplace. The tactile nature of the space extends to the hand-plastered bathroom, where distinct strokes and imperfections add to the wabi sabi esthetic. Offering opportunities to experience nature in every season, a multi-functional bar top with an accordion window connects to an outdoor counter. Guests can enjoy fresh air during the summer months and watch snow fall over the New York Harbor in the wintertime.

For Outlook Liberty Suite, Collective Retreats partnered with Dvele homes to create an energy-efficient, climate-resilient, luxury guest suite. Wrapped in floor-to-ceiling glass, panoramic sliding doors open onto covered terraces, ideal for enjoying morning coffee and cinematic vistas of the harbor.

Outlook Shelters are standalone, temperature-controlled dwellings framed by two private terraces with views of the Statue of Liberty. Inside, modern finishes and amenities offer the comfort of a luxury hotel stay. Outlook Shelters have private bathrooms with a soaking tub. The Outlook Collection offers modern-day comforts including air-conditioning, heating and Wi-Fi. The accommodations also include complimentary amenities such as an in-room Trail Bar, including a stocked refrigerator with drinks and snacks, nightly turndown service, and a fire pit.
