The Connaught Temporarily Closes

Until November 1, London's Connaught hotel, which opened in 1897, will be closed for renovations, which are expected to total $120 million. The owner, Maybourne Hotel Group, plans to restore original features and add a new wing, which will include a spa, swimming pool, private dining room and boardroom. A terrace also will be added to the Red Room at the front of the Victorian building. During the six-month renovation, the plumbing and décor of the hotel will also be updated. "This project is not about re-creation, but rather a contemporary interpretation of the legacy," Anthony Lee, the property's general manager, said in a statement. Visit www.the-connaught.co.uk for more information and photos.
