Some accommodations have great views of the city
Open since November 2006, The London NYC, on 54th Street, off Seventh Avenue, rises 54 stories above the streets of Manhattan. For clients who can’t visit the city without looking out over iconic sights, such as the Hudson River and Central Park, book floors 37 through 54. The property (www.londonnyc.com), which consists mostly of suites, offers swank accommodations that boast Egyptian cotton bedding by Fili D’Oro of Italy, iPod docking stations and stunning bathrooms developed especially for London NYC by Waterworks, one of the most famous luxury bath purveyors. Most have double walk-in rain showers.
The most requested accommodations are the 500-square-foot Vista Suites on floors 38 through 52. Best-to-book suites include the 1,500-square-foot London Atrium Suite on the 43rd floor. Featuring an expansive glass-domed atrium ceiling throughout and enormous windows, the suite has a spacious living area and sitting room as well as a separate dining area with a table that seats up to six guests. These one-bedroom suites can convert to two or three bedrooms by way of connecting 300- to 500-square-foot London Suites.
Guest rooms offer comfortable amenities
The 1,800-square-foot London Apartments are terrific for families. On floors 47 through 50, the apartments have large living rooms, formal dining rooms with tables for up to eight guests as well as large soaking tubs in addition to walk-in rain showers in the bathrooms. Pantries have refrigerators and microwaves.
The new 650- to 1,000-square-foot, one-bedroom London Sky Suites on floors 53 and 54 have open floor plans with living and dining areas (tables accommodate up to four guests) and the most amazing dressing areas. The bathrooms also boast large soaking tubs plus walk-in rain showers and radiant heat floors.
Next month, the new 2,500-square-foot duplex London Penthouse will be ready for bookings. It has two bedrooms and the aforementioned dressing areas, and large living and dining areas (the table seats six), as well as a full-service prep kitchen designed for the culinary team from Gordon Ramsay at the London NYC, the hotel’s famous restaurant. The master bath also has a large soaking tub, a walk-in rain shower and radiant heat floors.
All but the new penthouse can be booked over the GDS. For very special clients, contact Managing Director Dominique Piquemal (212-468-8887; email@example.com).
The hotel’s health club, The London NYC Club, is open around the clock. Nutritionists, personal trainers and mind and body specialists are available on request through the concierge, as are in-room spa treatments.
For special requests and luxury ground transportation, contact Head Concierge Abraham Guzman (212-307-5000; firstname.lastname@example.org). Guests also have access to Quintessentially, an exclusive members-only concierge service that can seemingly work magic when it comes to hard-to-get tickets, tables at always-booked restaurants and so much more on a worldwide basis, be it Paris, Hong Kong or Moscow.
With a total of 12 Michelin stars to his name, Gordon Ramsay’s first U.S. outpost is at this hotel. As good as it gets, Gordon Ramsay at the London was recently awarded two of those Michelin stars. Ramsay oversees all dining at the hotel, which includes the aforementioned restaurant, serving dinner (and lunch twice weekly); the more casual Maze, serving lunch and dinner; and The London Bar, serving breakfast, light fare and afternoon tea. Due to the great popularity of Ramsay’s restaurant, dinner reservations should be made at least a month in advance. For guests, in-room tables have been custom-designed specifically for Ramsay’s ensuite dining service.
