Members of Marriott's loyalty program now can donate the points they've earned to the charity of their choice under a new global initiative put in place by the brand. Rewarding Communities is a new program that enables Marriott Rewards members to redeem their points for "Marriott Cheques" that can be used by charitable organizations for everything from hotel stays to fundraising. Members typically ask about donating points after natural or man-made disasters, says Ed French, Marriott's senior vice president of customer relationship marketing. This program will enable those people to respond more quickly and easily, he says.
