Eight New Adults-Only All-Inclusive Resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean

A number of all-inclusive hotel brands opened adults-only resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico in 2016, and several others added exclusive 18-and-up areas to their resorts. The resorts range from quiet getaways (that ban Spring Breakers) to all-night pool parties (that welcome the Spring Break vibe).

Hyatt Ziva Cancun

Turquoize, Hyatt Ziva Cancun’s resort within a resort, is an adults-only section whose rooms have 700 square feet of living space, oversized balconies with a private hot tub, baths with ocean views, and a direct-access elevator to the spa. Guests are also privy to a separate check-in and reception area, exclusive dining, and rooftop infinity pool. Additionally, guests receive access to a complimentary mini bar, all privileges of Hyatt Zilara Cancun, butler service, and priority seating at the Tradewinds Restaurant.

Club Med Punta Cana

The family-friendly Club Med Punta Cana opened the Zen Oasis area in 2016, the resort’s adults-only area. The Deluxe Zen Rooms were designed to maximize both wellness and comfort: rooms include spa-like bathrooms with rainfall showers, bathtubs, and mood lighting, as well as private gardens and day beds. For a quiet getaway, Zen Oasis guests have access to a private section of the beach with thatched-roof cabanas, a VIP spa, a lagoon-styled pool split for free swimming and doing laps, and a poolside bar with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic offerings.

Riu Reggae

Active couples and groups alike will have plenty to do while at Riu Reggae in Montego Bay, Jamaica. During the day, guests can opt for a number of sports and activities from tennis, gold, diving, kayaking, or windsurfing at the hotel’s facilities or horseback riding or a trip to see bioluminescent plankton at Glistening Bay off-resort. At night, guests can visit Riu Montego Bay Hotel’s nightclub, Pacha, just a few yards away. And to recover, the Renova Spa has a sauna, Jacuzzi, gym, and a variety of body and beauty treatments. Restaurant offerings include Italian and Asian cuisine and steakhouse fare, while four bars serve a variety of drinks.

Hotel Riu Palace Las Americas Cancun

After renovations during the summer, the resort reopened as an adults-only hotel. The resort has three pools, including a fresh water swimming pool. Again, the Riu property offers a variety of outdoor activities, which include volleyball, catamaran rides, golf, cycling, and snorkeling. Guests can also enjoy live shows at the Pacha nightclub and recover in the morning with the Renova Spa. Travelers won’t have to worry about rowdy Spring Breakers – they are not permitted on the property at any time of the year.

Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa

AMResorts’ Caribbean Sea-facing “Unlimited Luxury” hotel offers 24-hour concierge service, unlimited beer, wine, and top-shelf spirits, free international calling, pool and beach wait service, and daily refreshed mini bar. Accommodations include bungalow-style and swim-out suites. The Preferred Club Presidential Suite has two oceanfront balconies, a two-person Jacuzzi, two 48” TVs, a dining area, bar, and fridge that’s restocked daily. The resort has eight restaurants and six bars, offering a variety of cuisines and cocktails. Among the activities guests can enjoy (think: beach volleyball, snorkeling, etc.) are big-screen movies on the beach and theme parties at beach venues.

Breathless Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa

The “vibrant, chic, and ultra-modern” adults-only hotel is designed for those who like to stay up partying. Similar to other AMResorts properties, Breathless has unlimited beer, wine, and premium spirits, daily restocked mini bars, and pool and beach wait service. The resorts’ party calendar is packed with rock shows, neon paint parties, sensual theatre productions, and hip hop artists and DJs. Guest rooms come in three varieties: Allure, xhale suites (upgraded suites with private pool and Jacuzzi as well as an exclusive restaurant), and xcelerate Party Zone suites (with a 35-person Jacuzzi, pool, exclusive champagne bar, and DJs playing until morning).

El Dorado Maroma, a Beachfront Resort by Karisma

This past fall, Karisma debuted Palafitos – Overwater Bungalows at the El Dorado Maroma resort, an adults-only section. The first wave included 30 luxury suites with glass-bottom floors, direct ladder access to the ocean, outdoor Aguas del Amor showers, private infinity pools, indoor Jacuzzis, and oversized decks with lounge chairs. Other special services and amenities include exclusive beach beds, customized beach picnics, and full butler service. The Overwater Náay Spa treatments are based off traditional Mayan herbal practices. Palafitos also has an Overwater Grill & Wine Bar.

Sandals Royal Caribbean Montego Bay

The Montego Bay-located property recently opened its Over-the-Water Suites. The five overwater villas, the first of their kind in the Caribbean, have glass floors, a Tranquility Soaking Tub, overwater hammock for two, and a private infinity pool. The villas are connected via bridge to the resort’s private island where its two restaurants, pool, and clothing-optional beach are (cabanas included). Inside, the bathrooms include oversized rainfall showers, his-and-hers vanities, walk-in closets, and bidets. Outside, the screened deck offers privacy and has ocean views. Guests can opt for room-service dining on their decks for a private meal. Kitchens come equipped with premium liquor, and private butlers are on hand 24/7 to deliver anything guests might need.
