Petit St. Vincent Reopens for Season With New Look

Following the annual summer refurbishment closure, Petit St. Vincent Resort is set to welcome guests to the island for the resort’s 53rd season from November 1. Over the past three months, the 115-acre private island resort’s staff have been busy refurbishing the 22 one- and two-bedroom cottages and villas with new roofs, new flooring and updated soft goods. Physical plant and back-of-house systems have been updated and replaced where necessary.

Due to ongoing sustainability efforts on and around the island resort, Small Luxury Hotels of the World has included Petit St. Vincent Resort in its just-announced “Considerate Collection,” a newly created community of 26 actively sustainable hotels and resorts whose sustainability efforts go above and beyond, proving that luxury is compatible with longevity. Petit St. Vincent’s ongoing coral regeneration program, which guests can tour and assist with, is one instance where the island is dedicated toward making a difference. The resort has also implemented systems to reduce waste, including the construction of a reverse osmosis plant and bottling facility that has eliminated single-use plastic water bottles on the island.

The island’s natural seclusion and inherent features has also afforded the property a “Bubble Resort” status by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines government, a designation created in 2020 when international travel was beginning to reopen. This means that arriving guests are required to follow social-distancing and mask-usage measures for just a short period of time upon arrival while awaiting their PCR test results, allowing guests to maximize their vacation time. An on-island staff nurse will administer the required PCR tests upon arrival and before departure, which cuts down on waiting time.

Petit St. Vincent’s flagpole communication system, which dates back to the hotel’s opening in 1968, allows guests to communicate with staff for any needs, such as room service, transportation, etc., no matter where they are on the island. Guests can also enjoy Petit St. Vincent’s hillside open-air spa, an exercise trail, tennis courts, Jean-Michel Cousteau dive center, watersports, two outdoor restaurants and bars and unlimited room service (which is packaged together with the rates).
