The Pierside Hotel to Debut in Santa Monica

The Pierside Hotel, located in downtown Santa Monica, debuts this week following a multi-million-dollar renovation as a premium lifestyle hotel. As the closest hotel to the celebrated Santa Monica Pier, The Pierside is the latest hotel on the renowned Ocean Avenue in 11 years.

The hotel is home to 132 guestrooms and suites, many with coastal views; a light-filled lobby offering communal seating areas; an elevated pool experience with food and beverage service; a full-service gear rental, The Board Shop; a fitness center and a new signature restaurant, The Surfing Fox, featuring a sprawling outdoor patio with views of the Santa Monica pier.

Just steps from the sand, the hotel offers a connection with the best of the city’s attractions, including shopping, upscale nightlife, dining establishments and entertainment as well as unique outdoor and cultural experiences.

The Pierside is located on the corner of Ocean Avenue and Colorado Avenue in Santa Monica’s downtown district, a location that is steps from the pier and expansive beaches, providing a desirable California city escape.

Guests will immediately experience a beachside California getaway feel upon arrival, accentuated by a bright lobby complete with bespoke seating areas surrounding a floating fireplace. In a nod to the city’s surf culture, the hotel brings natural elements to its interiors with the use of muted textures, warm woods, a neutral color palette and beach-inspired artwork eliciting a fresh seascape.

The Pierside includes a variety of experiences and programming for all types of travelers. Reflecting the Santa Monica lifestyle, the sun-filled, heated saltwater pool features abundant palm tree scenery and a close-up visual of the distinguished artist Shepard Fairey’s vibrant mural—Fairey’s largest commission in the area—on the west-facing wall, complementing the colorful city of Santa Monica. Chaise lounges and a distinct water feature line the area with garden-like landscaping, complete with light bites and libations served poolside.

Taking advantage of Santa Monica’s oceanside landscape and beach adventures, The Board Shop stands as a point of exploration for outdoor enthusiasts offering gear from surfboards to skateboards, cruiser bicycles, rollerblades, fishing rods, beach supplies, GoPros and more to immerse in the best of the coastal city. An array of local partnerships and activations including beach butler services, create guest experiences unique to the surrounding area.

The Pierside’s guestrooms and suites borrow influences from Santa Monica’s scenic landscape and Southern California style using a minimalistic approach with crisp, bold accents. Accommodations consist of partial coastal views with configurations ranging from king rooms featuring a queen size sofa sleeper to two queens. The rooms have multi-functional furnishings and floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the scenery of Santa Monica.

The Pierside is an Energy Star-certified hotel. Sustainability initiatives at the property also extend to responsible Food and Beverage sourcing through local partners and convenient hydration stations located throughout the hotel. Every guest is provided with a reusable aluminum eco-bottle to utilize during their stay and beyond.

For dining, The Surfing Fox will debut in Q2 as The Pierside’s new signature restaurant and bar located at the ground level. The design of the restaurant, with an open-air patio, provides guests an alfresco dining experience with views of the Santa Monica Pier. The restaurant anchors The Pierside as an all-day dining destination with a separate, street-side entry drawing newcomers and locals alike.

Guests will encounter a sprawling bar that sets the stage for the venue’s beverage program, featuring a unique selection of California sourced spirits, beers, and local wines. The restaurant offers an approachable breakfast and coffee program in the bar area, inclusive of a coffee house-style menu with morning favorites such as varieties of La Colombe coffee, select tea options, pastries, and fresh pressed juices from a local purveyor that are available for takeaway or dining in.

Throughout the day, the elevated sit-down venue offers a collection of locally inspired culinary delights alongside curated cocktails.
