Starwood Answers Asia Pacific's Mid-price Hotel NeedAugust 14, 2007 By: Mark Rogers, David Eisen Travel Agent
Starwood Hotels & Resorts' Four Points by Sheraton brand is heading to the Asia Pacific region. The brand has announced plans for its first hotel in Tibet, and will open two hotels in China-Four Points by Sheraton Lianyungang and Four Points by Sheraton Sanya Bay-by 2010. The announcement quadruples the brand's Asia Pacific footprint. "The strong demand for moderately priced lodging coupled with the increase of domestic travel in many Asian markets is helping to propel the brand's growth to a level that is expected to rival that of Starwood's luxury and upper upscale brands," said Miguel Ko, president of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Asia Pacific.
Scheduled to open in 2007, Four Points by Sheraton Lhasa, Tibet will have 93 guest rooms, a meeting room, two restaurants and a lounge. The hotel will be in Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet, and is scheduled to open in 2007.
Four Points by Sheraton Lianyungang is the first internationally branded hotel to open in Lianyungang, China. Scheduled to open in 2009, the hotel will have 254 guestrooms, more than 14,000 square feet of meeting space, two restaurants, and a bar and lounge.
Four Points by Sheraton Hainan, Sanya will be a new-build resort on Sanya Bay on Hainan Island. When it opens in mid 2010, the 405-room resort will have three restaurants and a lounge, a spa and health club, an outdoor swimming pool, and more than 20,000 square feet of meeting space.
