First High School in Country Focusing on Travel Set to Open in September

In September, the National Academy Foundation, in partnership with the New York City Department of Education, will open a high school devoted to offering students a rigorous preparatory and business education focusing on the hospitality and travel industries. The Academy of Hospitality & Tourism High School will be housed in Erasmus Campus, formerly Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, the second oldest high school in the country. AOHT will be one of the five small schools located on the campus. The Academy of Hospitality & Tourism High School was designed by a team led by Adam Breier, who will serve as the school's principal. This is part of New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg's initiative to support the creation of small high schools with unique themes and personalized learning environments. The school will include two professional kitchens and one restaurant, all located on the campus, which will be utilized for a culinary program that will support the school's hospitality and tourism theme.
