Celebrating St. Paddy's For More Than One Day

March 16, 2009 By: Travel Agent Central Contributor

For those looking to celebrate St. Patrick's Day for longer than the 24-hour span on March 17, there's ample opportunity in Dublin. Seventy million people worldwide claim Irish heritage and the city's St. Patrick's Festival is the chance to celebrate an extended holiday. While the rest of the world tucks in to corned beef and cabbage, Irish Stew or Guinness, those in Ireland will be enjoying a veritable feast of street theatre, music, dance, carnivals, fireworks, food, treasure hunts, film, and a little parade that will snake its way through the city to the delight of hundreds of thousands of Irish, 'new Irish' and tourists alike!

Highlights of the Festival this year include the explosive Skyfest - an awe-inspiring display of fireworks, lighting effects on the site of the port town of Waterford.
